North Point Nissan Damages vehicle

I took my 04 Nissan Xterra to North Point Nissan in Little Rock, Arkansas to have the lower steering column replaced per recall. The vehicle was fine before they got their hands on it.

When I got it back it had a very loud whine and a grinding feel whenever I make a right turn as well as no longer being in alignment. I contacted them about it straightaway. They told me that sometimes when you "fix" one problem others develop. And that I would need to commit to paying them $75 (money I do not have) to hook it to their computer to make sure it was not something they did not cause.

Their manager even tried to get me to say the problem was basically there all along (it was not). I called Nissan about it and have had no help.

Be forewarned, they will treat you nice, greet you with a smile, stick the knife in ever so gently just before turning it sharply in your back.My next step may be to sit up a big sign across from them and let folks hear the whine and grind of my my X.

North Point Nissan in Little Rock, AR is convenient to my home. So I have always taken my Xterra ther for servicing since I moved to Little Rock from Conway, AR about 5 years ago.

I bought my Xterra from Superior Nissan in Conway when I lived there and was very happy with their service department there. The employees in their service department seem very professional and honest.

THe service department at North Point are just hte opposite. I have too many complaints about them to list here, but my biggest complaint is their dishonesty. My latest example: My Xterra recently began stalling. It seemed as if it were running out of gas, so I changed the fuel pump and filter. When that didn't fix it, I cheched the fire by grounding a screwdriver to a plug wire and discovered that at times it was not firing.

Not sure what to try next, I had it towed to North Point for a diagnostic and repair. After checking it out, the service manager called me and said that I needed a battery ($135 installed...he tried to convince me that was a good deal because it was less than the 3 batteries he has on his boat), a distributor ($415 for the part and $385 for labor based on $90/hr....roughly 4 hrs) and a timing belt ( around $500 installed). I explained that the timing belt had not slipped because at times it would run normally, then it would stall. I guess he thought I was an *** when it comes to mechanics, because he tried to convince me that it could jump in and out of time. I am not a mechanic, but my dad is and I grew up working on cars, and I do know the basics.

Angry, I paid the diagnostic fee of $90 and had it towed back to my home. A friend of mine works with a guy who is trained as a mechanic and does some work on the side. He came to my house, diagnosed my problem ( a bad distributor only) and repaired it in less than an hour ( not the 4 hours that North Point suggested.

I paid $275 for the distributor at O'Reilly's and he charged $80 to install ($355 total compared to North Point's total of over $1400 for the battery, distributor and timing belt). The old battery on my Xterra that I was told had shorted out and would not take charge is still on my Xterra and still holding charge just fine.

I can tolerate stupidity more than I can dishonesty, but the service department at North Point are both *** and dishonest.

As I stated earlier, this is just the latest incident that I have experienced with them. It is also the last. I am now driving to Superior Nissan in Conway for my servicing.

I agree with the 'throwing in' of the $2000 warranty that they add to your bottom line and then wiggle out of it when it's time to honor it. Dishonest Dealers!

I purchased a 08 Maxima SE on 9/08.The sales manager stated that my sale taxes will be paid and a copy of the carfax.

I was screwed and sent only $500 on the sale taxes, so I had to add $900 more. I came to find out that the car that I purchased was a car used by the sales manager for a personal car. He had put aftermarket parts on the car to display parts for his dad's detail and part store. I have been back and forth to North Point to get various things fixed on the car such as the noisy front end and awful antifreeze smell coming through the vents!

They told me to drive it until it really tears up!They are on some foul sh*t!

I agree with the Xterraowner.NorthPoint Nissan is very dishonest in there business dealings.

I purchased a new vehicle about a month ago. The used sales manager told me that he would "throw in" 2 tanks of gas, Gap protection, the warranty, and 1/2 the sales tax. They honored the two tanks of gas, but they did not honor the warranty or the Gap protection. They financed it into my purchase and then explained that they dropped the price and financed the warranties to keep the payment the same.

WOW! I AM STILL PAYING FOR WARRANTIES. Had to fight to get the check for 1/2 the sales tax. I asked kept asking for the General Manager and received everyone but the GM.

Heck, they wouldn't even honor my friend who referred me to their dealership and give her her referral check. The sales manager lied about giving her a referral.

Northpoint NIssan is full deception and lies.:(
